  • Aston Institute of Materials Research celebrates launch
  • Leading figures from industry and business get chance to find out about expertise
  • New research institute brings together range of academic expertise

  • Aston University is celebrating the launch of its latest research institute with an event for leading figures from industry and business on Tuesday 13 June.

The Aston Institute of Materials Research (AIMR) undertakes cutting-edge multi-disciplinary materials-based research with real impact.

The multi-disciplinary team within AIMR encompasses a broad range of academic expertise, from mathematicians and modellers to polymer scientists; chemists and biologists to mechanical engineers and materials scientists.

The institute, which is based on the Aston University campus, works across disciplines and institutions as well as collaborating with industry on a variety of exciting research areas. Aston welcomes collaboration and interest from external companies and universities and this event is a chance for the external community to find out more.

Paul Topham, Director of AIMR, said of the launch event:

“We are looking forward to welcoming local and national industry, businesses, stakeholders and academics at this celebratory event. Aston strives to work with external partners of all sizes to maximise the impact of our research and so we welcome external guests to come along, learn about our expertise and interests in materials science and engineering and explore ways in which we can work together for mutual benefit.”

The institute launched internally earlier this year and todays event is aimed at giving a wide range of stakeholders the chance to find out more about AIMR’s work.
